What you'll do

Start beneath the dreaming spires and roll out through the oldest university city in the English-speaking world. Ellie takes you past the landmarks everyone photographs, then off the tourist track — down cobbled lanes, along the river, and out to the wide commons where Oxford runs into open countryside. Expect the stories the walking tours skip, a gentle pace, and plenty of stops.

  • Radcliffe Square
Meet between the Radcliffe Camera and the Bodleian, in the postcard heart of Oxford.
  • Broad Street & the colleges
Weave past the grand college fronts and down the lanes between them.
  • Christ Church Meadow
Down to the water where the Cherwell meets the Isis, cows and all.
  • Port Meadow
Oxford opens up: a vast ancient common with wild ponies and river swimmers.
  • Back via Jericho
Home through Oxford's most characterful quarter, finishing in the centre.
